Angel Snow is a folk singer and songwriter from Chickamauga, Georgia.

She currently has one critically-acclaimed album under her belt, called "Fortune Tellers"  and is working on a second with collaborator and producer Viktor Krauss.

If you are going to be in the Atlanta area the weekend of June 26th, you should check out the High Strung String Band at Sweet Melissa's Bluegrass Brunch.


Anytime that you have a chance to get brunch at Sweet Melissa's, you should jump on it anyway. Scrambled Eggs Supreme and big cakey biscuits are more than worth the drive to Decatur Square. And every Sunday they have live music which is usually really good.

Also, they have the coolest waitstaff in town.

But it's not really about Sweet Melissa's, it's about the High Strung String Band, a terrific young band from Athens, GA that deserves your support!

They are celebrating the release of their first album of all original on bluegrass / old-timey type music on Saturday, June 26th from 11am - 2 pm. Come check 'em out!

The Cowtown String band captures that feeling of spending a lazy Sunday on the porch trading licks and hitting harmonies. This six piece group has mastered the lost art of gathering around a single mic and playing with heart and humor. Even when they enter the world of electricity at bar and club gigs across the state they retain that back porch feeling while putting on a world class show.

In addition to original material the Cowtown String band can be heard playing a wide variety of tunes that includes many traditional old-time and bluegrass tunes as well as songs by Gillian Welch, Tom Petty and even Rick Astley when the mood strikes.

If you're going to be in the Atlanta area on Saturday, June 18th, you have a couple of musical options. If the Rockabilly Luau doesn't appeal to you, you might want to check out the Midsummer Music & Food Festival in Candler Park.

The wonderful Tamale Queen is going to be there.

Not only does the Queen make the best chicken tamales North of the Border, but a portion of the proceeds goes to a great cause,  the Fugees Family.
